Lomography: Where To Start?

So you've heard of the term 'Lomography', but have absolutely no idea what it's all about. And you've seen the photos these Lomographers produced & decided it's time for you to join in the Lomo fun too.

Why not?!

"Lomography is a global community whose strong passion is creative and experimental analogue film photography." - Lomography.com

Yes, it's all about analogue film photography. Just when you thought everything's gone digital now, there are still photographers out there using film for their photography needs.

Here's an interview with a loyal film wedding photojournalist: Lisa Berry

Become a registered Lomography member to enjoy these benefits:
  • Unlimited photo storage
  • Your very own LomoHome account, where you can organise your photos and share them with other Lomographers
  • Special offers and web-only exclusives on Lomographic products
  • Contests where you can win Piggy Points and Lomography stuff! (One Piggy Point voucher is worth 1 EUR/USD for you to spend in our online shop)
  • The ability to post your own comments, reviews, stories and tips.
  • Make contact with thousands of photography-loving people from around the world!

But what's so great about joining them?

"There are a lot of perks that you can get out of being a member of the Lomography community! Exchange tips with other members, and get inspired with collaborations and projects. Expect exciting things happening in the community because we always have something new to offer. Best of all, you'll meet like-minded Lomographers to share the analogue love with – our friendly community is constantly active with discussions, collaborations, contests, and meetups."

There are really lots of toy cameras for you to choose from including fish eye/pinhole lenses, cameras with multiple lenses that shoot from 4 lenses simultaneously for a unique effect, and a Lomo specialty, a colored flash.

But what is Lomography without the fun in cross-processing?

Lomography is really an addictive hobby, even though it could be an expensive one bearing in mind the costs involved in film & processing. And be warned that there's a high chance you won't stop at one camera, & instead will keep on increasing your collection to include a range of other camera effects.

So why wait? Lomo cameras can be as cheap at 15USD & it can get even cheaper when you purchase them through eBay!

In the Lomography world, you Don't Think, Just Shoot!

For Lomographers in Singapore, join the forum at Lomotion SG to get in touch with our local Lomo community. Lots of love going around in there, really!

Enjoy the start of this new week of November guys!

Love,
Roosh
